It’s a genre-bending shooter, with long drives and slower moments of scene-setting to allow you to soak up the atmosphere before the inevitable gunfire. It features a big and detailed city to explore, from deserted neighborhoods to wealthy districts, so fans of tightly-designed stories can find plenty here. Of course, the game has lots going for it. Mafia isn’t an open world game what it is, is a linear series of missions with various traps and obstacles to overcome. It’s one of ambition, opportunity and revenge. Tommy Angelo is an important character in the Lost Heaven universe, and we see a lot of his story. Liquor has been eliminated due to its central role in abusive power relations that predate alcohol itself. Women are no longer seen as equals in society they have little to no rights outside their homes. The larger societies are breaking down and democracy is being dismantled. People around the world are experiencing depression, bankruptcy, and loss of faith in politics and the economy.
